High Absorption Ascorbate C 500 mg Softgels
Natural Factors BioCgel High Absorption Ascorbate C is formulated with a highly absorbable form of vitamin C to help in the development and maintenance of bones, cartilage, teeth, and gums. As a non-acidic, buffered, and pH neutral ingredient, the ascorbate in BioCgel is gentle on the stomach and ideal for people who experience gastrointestinal upset from plain ascorbic acid.
BioCgel contains BerryRich, a high-ORAC, full-spectrum antioxidant blend of grape, pomegranate, strawberry, cranberry, blueberry, raspberry, and bilberry that naturally enhances the effects of vitamin C. These berries contain phytonutrients that promote healthy aging, protect cellular health, and promote cardiovascular health. The addition of citrus bioflavonoids further elevates the antioxidant protection of BioCgel to promote healthy aging and boost immune function. Standardized to 40% hesperidin, bioflavonoids not only fight oxidation, strengthen capillaries, and optimize collagen health, but are key to effective vitamin C absorption.
Each softgel delivers a combination of 500 mg of calcium ascorbate, 50 mg of BerryRich, and 10 mg of citrus bioflavonoids in a formula that is free of artificial preservatives, colours, sweeteners, dairy, wheat, and yeast. These features make BioCgel an excellent choice for anyone looking to optimize their health.

How it works
Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is an essential water-soluble vitamin that cannot be produced by the body and must therefore be obtained through diet. Ascorbic acid is essential for the synthesis of collagen, a protein that makes up the primary framework of bones, skin, eyes, and blood vessels.
Without ascorbic acid, collagen synthesis cannot take place, and tissues become weakened.
Ascorbic acid boosts immune function by increasing the production of lymphocytes (white blood cells) that fight disease-causing bacteria and viruses, as well as boosting levels of the antioxidant glutathione within cells. Glutathione and the antioxidants from BerryRich help the body counteract free radical damage to cells by neutralizing the electrical charge on their unstable chemical structure. This action halts the oxidative process responsible for aging and the development of chronic degenerative diseases.
Citrus bioflavonoids, such as hesperidin, increase the body’s absorption of ascorbic acid. They also support healthy blood vessels by increasing the production of nitric oxide and the vasodilator prostacyclin.

3 softgels daily or as directed by a health care practitioner. Keep out of reach of children. Contraindications • Vitamin C may increase the absorption of aluminum from aluminum-containing antacids such as ALternaGEL®, Amphojel®, Basaljel®, Nephrox®, Maalox®, and Mylanta®. Take vitamin C at least 2 hours before or after taking one of these products. • Certain medicines, such as antibiotics, blood thinners and aspirin may interact with vitamin C. Consult your health care practitioner prior to use if you are on any medications. Some interactions may increase the need for vitamin C, other interactions may be negative. • As this product may contain citrus bioflavonoids, there is one caution: bioflavonoids are non-toxic so drug interactions are virtually unknown; however, citrus bioflavonoids contain grapefruit flavonoids that may interact with certain medications. The reason that grapefruit is problematic with certain drugs is that it contains high levels of a flavonoid (plant pigment) called naringin. This substance reduces the activity of a group of P450 enzymes known as CYP3A enzymes. • Your body uses these enzymes to break down certain drugs, such as calcium channel blockers (used in the treatment of high blood pressure), sedatives (for example, midazolam), cyclosporin (an immune suppressant given to people who have received organ transplants) and statins (lipid-lowering drugs). If the drugs are not metabolized, they remain in the body in higher concentrations, increasing the risk of unwanted toxic effects. If taking these drugs, be aware of this effect and consult your health care practitioner. Additional Information Children: Suitable for children at one-half to the full recommended adult dose. Pregnancy and Nursing: Suitable for pregnant and lactating women. Seniors: No special precautions known.
